Captain Barry Kohlus has been fishing the waters off Montauk Point for more than 35 years. Like his father before him, he knows the waters and how to find the fish.
Charters
Venture charters are booked for inshore or offshore fishing. Inshore fishing can be a half day or full day of fishing fun!
Offshore fishing is a full day of adventure!
Full Day: Inshore trips typically go from 6am to 3-4 pm, allowing for 7-8 hours on the water. During our full day inshore trip, the Venture will target multiple inshore areas for specific fish.

Half Day: Trips typically go from 6am to 11am or 12pm to 5pm, allowing for 3-4 hours of fishing time and 30 minutes of travel time to and from the fishing grounds.
​
Full Day Offshore: Trips vary in boarding time, depending on the target location and fish. It may take an hour or more to reach the fishing grounds -- large fish like Giant Bluefin Tuna are typically found in waters that are 8 - 30 miles or more offshore. To maximize fishing time, we typically limit our offshore fishing to a 12-mile limit from the Point.

We are located on Star Island -- The marina is near the U.S. Coast Guard Station on Star Island Road.
Our Fishing Destinations
The waters off Montauk Point and Shagwong Point are our Inshore destinations to land Striped Bass, and Blue Fish. Fluke, Sea Bass, Porgies, and Black Fish are also found in these waters.

Offshore fishing is 8 to 30 miles from the Point, often southeast for Bluefin Tuna -- or toward Block Island -- for Sharks, Tuna, Billfish, Dolphin, and Wahoo.
Inshore fishing can be either half day or full day.
Offshore fishing is always a full day.

Captain Barry Kohlus
Captain Barry Kohlus followed in the tradition of his father, Captain Boots Kohlus, who began fishing the waters off Montauk Point in the 50's. Barry, like his father, loves fishing: " I get a great deal of satisfaction out of showing people how to have a good time on the water."
Bryan Lotufo
Bryan has been fishing with Captain Barrry for 30 years. He loves fishing -- and assisting all who come aboard the Venture looking for a fun time. He's a people person, and is great with the kids.
